This is an amazing time here on our little farmstead. We started this journey years ago working up the concept, spent many years researching and planning the buying and the raising of our Ostriches. Now, just months after purchasing our breeding trio, we have our first couple of babies!

We are excited to welcome this little one (and then more) to our family! To keep with Liam’s love of Jurassic Park, we named this one Charlie. The next two were named Delta and Echo. I am sure you are catching on to our naming plans for the ostriches.
The incubator still has 14 eggs, and we have 5 eggs waiting to go into the incubator, so the fun has just begun!! Of course, Lois, Bonnie, and Quagmire continue to add to the fertilized egg line up for now, but soon breeding season will come to an end.

Over the last couple of months, they have acclimated to our farm and have grown comfortable with Jason and me. They are still trying to understand Liam. When we come up to the gate, they know that they will be receiving attention and/or food, so they come up to the gate as well. Of course, Lois and Bonnie are more excited to see us, but Quagmire is learning to be friendly. I will say, though, that Jason is still intimidated by Quagmire when collecting the daily egg. Quagmire lets his distraught temper show during his protection of his nest and egg.
We will try to get some videos and will update the baby’s progress next Monday!
